Advisory group

As part of the Smart Data Challenge Prize we have set up an advisory group, consisting of data holders, members of the Smart Data Council, and other relevant stakeholders across industries which have emerged as candidates for Smart Data schemes.

Members of the advisory group will be available to provide mentorship to finalists.

Mentorship may include:

  • Acting as a sounding board for ideas and commenting on the feasibility of collecting, using and sharing relevant data, including:
    • the legal foundation, standing, authority or permissions
    • governance or decision-making processes
    • technical infrastructure
    • commercial terms or value exchange
  • Discussing user or customer needs for a particular sector, problems facing the sector, or opportunities for the sector that could be addressed with better access to customer data
  • Providing insights into the relevant data that companies hold and access (in general terms which do not compromise the data holders or need for confidentiality)
  • Discussing existing gaps in data infrastructure, policies, business models and other areas of relevance

Mentorship requests will go through the Open Data Institute to ensure the time advisory group members have available for support is allocated effectively, and to ensure that a level playing field amongst the finalists is maintained.

Members of the group will be announced shortly – watch this space!
