We are excited to announce the expert panel set to assess your cross-sector Smart Data use case ideas. 

After the open call closes on 8 December 2023, the experts will assess eligible submitted use case ideas and select a longlist of the most promising based on the assessment criteria.

Charlie Mercer

Charlie Mercer

Charlie Mercer is Deputy Policy Director at the Startup Coalition, the policy voice for startups in the UK. The Startup Coalition has multiple active campaigns supporting startups to access capital, talent and proportionate regulation. Charlie owns the Startup Coalition’s Fintech, investment and ClimateTech policy portfolios and sits on the Government’s Smart Data Council. He has over five years experience working in the Open Banking field from both a data holder and data consumer perspective, including previously sitting in American Express’s Global Open Data Strategy team.

Helen Fairfax-Wall

Helen Fairfax-Wall

Helen Fairfax-Wall is a digital policy specialist with 15 years experience. Beginning her career bringing public services online at Directgov, she moved to Number 10 where she leveraged digital reach into some of the UK’s largest policy agendas. In 2018 she took the role of Head of National Transformation, with responsibility for devolved and regional digital policy, and led the sharing of digital insights across the UK during the Covid pandemic. In 2022 Helen joined the consumer association Which? as Head of Digital and Fraud Policy. She leads a dedicated team focused on a safe, trusted, fair online environment for UK consumers.

Henk Van Hulle is CEO of Open Banking Ltd and an entrepreneurial business leader. Henk has expertise in building and managing profitable businesses, both Blue Chip and Start-Ups, particularly in (international) Financial Services, e- business and I.T. (digital services). He set up Belgium’s first Internet Bank and worked in several retail financial services companies across Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the UK. Henk’s incisive and inclusive leadership style inspires his people to deliver change and customer centric outcomes, whilst maintaining core values of transparency, trust, and professional integrity.
