The Smart Data Challenge Prize offers a range of support to prize finalists, designed to give each team the greatest chance of success, both during and beyond the prize, and enable them to develop their solutions as rapidly as possible.
Up to ten teams will be selected as prize finalists in May 2025, each receiving up to £50,000 to support the prototyping of the Smart Data solution in the data sandbox. In October 2025, one participating finalist will be awarded a prize of £50,000 and two finalists will receive runners up prizes of £25,000 each.
Finalists in the Smart Data Challenge Prize will benefit from access to a bespoke data sandbox, allowing them to develop a Smart Data solution prototype using specially commissioned synthetic data from a range of sectors. Finalists are encouraged to also leverage publicly available or open data, as well as data from other sectors that they have the right to use.
Finalists will join an engaging community of individuals and organisations with an active interest in the future of Smart Data, gaining opportunities to connect, network and receive mentorship. They will be able to request one-to-one or group mentorship with members of the Smart Data Challenge Prize Advisory Group, and have access to a mentoring schedule including workshops, webinars and a list of accessible resources for self-paced learning.
Successful finalists will benefit from comprehensive support to accelerate and strengthen the development of their Smart Data solution. This support brings access to experts from the tech and data sectors, policymakers and regulators, business development specialists, and exclusive events tailored for innovator finalists.
